Reading Notes from the Staff Line is an OPTION, Not a Requirement.
Welcome to the Banjo Lessons page. Banjo is a very specialized instrument and there are very few banjo teachers. Mike is glad to be able to offer these lessons and he will get you on the road to learning banjo and give you the tools to go as far as you would like to go.
Mike teaches banjo lessons from the book to the left. You can order the newest book from Mel Bay or eBay or other fine retailers. It is true that you can teach yourself banjo, but it is far easier and faster if you have some guidance. Just sitting properly and holding the banjo the right way are easier to see in person than in pictures.
The book uses the tablature method rather than reading notes from the staff line, because it is easier and much faster to learn. It is also picking style rather than strumming. We go through basic rolls (picking single notes in order) straight into songs. The songs are simple at first and gradually build in difficulty, introducing you to the many techniques that make you sound like the pros.
Sign up today by calling Mike at the number at the top of the page or by clicking on the Register link at the top of the page. You will be having fun playing banjo in no time.
